Land Rover hat bestätigt, dass es einen Prototyp eines Wasserstoff-Brennstoffzellen-Elektrofahrzeugs (FCEV) auf Basis des neuesten Defender SUV entwickelt. Der Defender FCEV-Prototyp soll noch in diesem Jahr in die Erprobung gehen, um die Geländetauglichkeit und den Kraftstoffverbrauch des Fahrzeugs zu ermitteln.
Der Defender FCEV-Prototyp ist auch Teil der „Reimagine“-Strategie des Unternehmens, die darauf abzielt, bis 2036 in der gesamten Produktpalette keine Auspuffemissionen zu verursachen und bis 2039 in der gesamten Lieferkette Netto-Null-Emissionen zu erreichen.
